What UNM does to protect your information

In order to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Personally Identifiable Information (PII) with which it is entrusted, UNM implements administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to ensure that access to PII is limited to individuals who need to access PII to perform their UNM job duties.

While we cannot publish the safeguards, they include the following:

Administrative

UNM policies and procedures require secure practices (2520, 2520) for PII and to information systems that collect, store, process, or transmit PII.

Physical

UNM implements door locks, and where possible, electronic locks audit trails, as well as security cameras to help protect the PII and information systems that collect, store, process, or transmit PII.

Technical

Firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems, encryption at rest and in transit, antivirus, and malware prevention tools are some of the technologies UNM deploys to help prevent unauthorized access to PII and to information systems that collect, store, process, or transmit PII.
